Hearing Test Procedure
All hearing tests
are FREE and
with NO obligation.
Our hearing tests are
undertaken by qualified Hearing Aid Audiologists registered with the Hearing Aid Council.
The Hearing
test consultation will be carried out in the comfort of your own home using portable audiometric hearing
assessment equipment.
Hearing tests normally
take between 1 hour to 1.5 hours. This allows for:
-
An understanding of your medical history regarding your
hearing problems, whether you have worn hearing aids
previously.
-
Auroscopic examination of the ears using an
otoscope to check for any abnormalities or blockages.
-
Air conduction (AC) hearing test to determine the
degree of hearing loss.
-
Bone conduction (BC) hearing test to determine the
type of hearing loss you have, using a bone conductor placed behind the worst ear. Sounds
generated by vibrations are heard in the Cochlea. This type of test gives us a better
understanding of what caused the hearing loss.
-
Further tests may be necessary dependant on the outcome
of the first two tests.
-
A clear explanation of the hearing tests results will
be provided.
-
We will recommend the most suitable hearing
aid based on your hearing loss, budget and lifestyle.
-
You can decide to think about it and discuss the
consultation further with family and friends, or....
-
You may
decide to proceed further, in which case The Hearing Aid Audiologist will take impressions of your ears
and fill in a supply form.
